Do it in Preston – if you love where you live, why not shop local to support those in your community and boost Preston’s economy at the same time?
Preston is proud to to be home to a large number of independent businesses
With Christmas on the horizon, businesses are working hard to encourage visitors to enjoy the spirit of the festive season in Preston.
Backed by Preston BID and supported by the City Council, city centre traders are calling for public support at this crucial time of year.
Alongside the national favourites, Preston offers award-winning hospitality and is proud to be home to one of the largest numbers of independent businesses in the country – meaning there’s a million and one reasons to shop in the city this Christmas.
Preston city centre is fortunate to have great connectivity links and is easily accessible by road and public transport. Or for customers passionate about doing their bit for the environment, it’s hassle-free to visit by bike or on foot.
Often small businesses can take up to a fifth, or more, of their annual income in December alone, which helps to steady businesses for the future, shore up your high street and protects local jobs – that’s why ‘doing it locally’ is the right thing to do.
Research shows that when we shop locally, for every £1 spent with a small or medium-sized business, around 63p remains in the city’s economy.
So Preston BID is asking people to put their money where their heart is, support their city centre, and do it in Preston this Christmas.
