Jade Rimmer was diagnosed with BPD, which affects mood and how a person interacts with others, three years ago. At the time she was also diagnosed with ADHD and recurrent depressive disorder.

After years of suffering, Jade has developed ways to look after herself, which she is now sharing with others through her business, Jayde’s Sensory Packs.

Jade, who grew up in Tanterton, said: “For almost all my teenage years I was in and out of trouble with the police and in and out of hospital with continuous overdose attempts.

“Since finding out more about borderline personality disorder I found out suicide attempts are quite common. I had to learn more about it and ways to stop myself getting to that point.

“I self-soothe by having something fluffy that I can feel or cuddle, and something nice to smell. A big one for me is distraction, so writing down my thoughts, doing a word-search, putting on a face mask, having something to nibble, etc. all helps.”

Jade realised that if those activities could help her, they could potentially make a difference to others too.

“I launched my website, which includes information on BPD and sensory packs to buy.

“My packs include locally-sourced items such as wax melts, soft teddies, word-search books, face masks, snap bands, chocolate and more.

“I’m hoping to become a mental health nurse in the future, but for now my only aim is to help people with these packs.”
