Hollie Johnstone from Preston is walking 32 mile to Blackpool and back to raise money for Huntington’s disease.
Hollie’s mother dies in 2018 of the disease aged 44 and Hollie has now also been diagnosed.
The walk will take place Saturday 1 May and Hollie will be joined by her friends.
Hollie said: “I’m doing this in honour and memory of my mum Emma who died from this cruel disease at 44 in 2018. I’m also doing this for myself as I was diagnosed a few months after my mum died.
“The trials are going incredibly well but nothing has been approved yet.
“I decided to make a change. I’m doing this to raise money and awareness for a cure that could save my life and everyone else at risk.”
Hollie is aiming for raise £1000 for the cause.
Hollie added: “My illness affects my memory, balance, concentration. It makes me twitch and jerk, chocking on food and drink My life expectancy from now is 15 to 20 years. I have been slowly deteriorating every day. I am constantly being discriminated and being mistaken for being drunk or on drugs which is frustrating.
“No matter how ill my mum was or how little she could do the second I saw her. Her face lit up.
“She was such a positive happy person. She’s given me all I need to fight this illness to the very end just like she did.”
