Two men found hiding in the loft space above a large cannabis factory in the St Matthews area have been arrested and charged.

The Preston Neighbourhood Police Task Force and colleagues from Tactical Operations found the factory at a commercial building in Longworth Street on Wednesday (2 September).

Officers executed a Misuse of Drugs Warrant, cutting through a roller shutter to get into the unit, which was surrounded by razor wire.

Inside they found that the unit had been adapted for the cultivation and distribution of cannabis.

The two men have since been charged with cannabis cultivation offences and were remanded to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The news comes after two people were arrested in a St Matthews drugs raid last week.

A spokesperson for Preston Police said: “It is thanks to information from the local community and intelligence gathered by the Task Force that we found out about this, so please keep it coming! We will take action as we did yesterday.

“We need your help to combat organised crime within Preston, so if you know anything about drug dealing in your area, you can contact us at NPT-TaskForcePreston@lancashire.police.uk.
