New plan tabled for flats near Savick Brook in Fulwood
A new application has been submitted to build flats on empty land off Garstang Road near Savick Brook.
The plans would see one two-storey apartment block and one four-storey apartment block created on the 3,009 sq m site in Fulwood.
There would be a total of 13 single bed apartments and 10 two-bed apartments. Seven of the 23 flats would be classed as affordable housing, with five available to rent and two to buy.
The layouts of both buildings would see apartments accessed from a central staircase. Designs for the larger of the buildings feature a small lobby on all floors.
The basement, ground and first floors of the larger building would have two twin bedroom apartments and three single bedroom apartments. The second floor of the building would consist of four single bedroom apartments due to the reduction in size of this floor.
The second building would consist of two large twin bedroom apartments on both the ground and first floor.
New access from Garstang Road would be put in, with 33 parking spaces and 28 cycle spaces available.
A modern design would be used for the exterior of the flats, with off-white render and red brickwork.
The smaller of the buildings would feature a traditional styled pitch roof similar to houses in Garstang Road, to ensure the building would be in keeping with its surroundings.
The larger of the buildings would feature a second floor cladded in zinc panels with a more contemporary style roof. Both buildings would have large anthracite-coloured uPVC windows.
Due to the layout and sloping nature of the site, the smaller of the two buildings would be seen from Garstang Road, while the larger one would be mostly hidden from view.
Although the development is within an area at risk of flooding, the application states that the flats would be far enough away to remain safe.
New planting would be placed around the site to compensate for any trees making way for the development.
Numerous residential planning applications have been put forward for the site since 2015.
In 2019 planning approval was granted for a detached dwelling on the southern end of the site under application 06/2019/0635.
Attached to that was an approved footprint for two new apartment buildings, within which these new plans would fit.
