A planning application has been submitted for a new roundabout and over 1000 properties in Bartle.
The application is classed as hybrid as there are plans for a roundabout junction Preston Western Relief Road and an outline application for around 1,000 dwellings.
A recommended decision is approval with conditions such as a three year time limit and an affordable housing scheme.
The proposed roundabout would have a 46m diameter and would have three 4m wide lanes circulating the roundabout and there is a proposed 2m wide verge around the roundabout and a proposed 3m wide footway/cycleway.
It would provide direct access to the applicant’s existing land holdings surrounding and it is proposed that the eastern and western arms of the roundabout would provide access to the proposed residential development.
There are two options for the residential application.
Option one comprises up to 1,100 dwellings and option 2 would comprise a 5 per cent reduction in the number of residential properties and would include land for a primary school and small scale local facilities.
Both options would also include access and circulation roads, cycle routes, pedestrian routes, public open space, green space, tree planting, landscaping and associated infrastructure and works.
The proposed development would be split into four separate zones.
The second option would comprise of around 1,050 properties.
The agent for the development is DPP and is due to go to the planning committee Thursday 1 April.
