Machete and cannabis seized as man ‘too slow’ to run from police

Preston Police said the passenger ‘decided to take his chances on foot’ after a vehicle was stopped in the Plungington area

A man who was ‘too slow’ to run from police was caught in possession of a large machete, cannabis and cash.

Preston Police exercised their stop and search powers after a car ‘caught the eyes’ while patrolling the Plungington area last night (July21). The vehicle was stopped however the passenger ‘decided to take his chances on foot’.

Officers said the male was ‘too slow’ and was caught with a large sum of cash and cannabis. Further searches uncovered more cash and a large machete.

The man was arrested and remains in custody for questioning. The arrest comes as part of a wider operation to tackle anti-social behaviour in the area.

Preston Police spokesperson said: “We have been patrolling the Plungington area of Preston as part of ASB awareness week. The area seemed quiet until a car caught the eyes of patrolling officers.

“The vehicle was stopped and passenger decided to take his chances on foot. Unfortunately the male was too slow and was caught with a large sum of cash and cannabis. Further searches have found more cash and a large machete.

“Male is now thinking about his actions in a cell. We will continue to target those who think it is acceptable to be involved in criminality.
