Leyland pensioner dies after suffering head injury in fatal collision in Preston city centre

The man died over a month after the incident

A man from Leyland has died after a fatal crash in Preston earlier in November.

Officers were called to Lancaster Road near Jacson Street, at around 1.35pm on Saturday, November 5. Emergency services rushed to the scene of a collision involving a green Vauxhall Mokka and an 86-year-old male pedestrian.

The elderly man suffered a head injury and was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital by ambulance. Over a month later, the Leyland man died on Tuesday December 13.

Police are now appealing for help from members of the public. They are urging witnesses, or anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Sgt Helen Parkinson of Lancashire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This is a very sad incident, and my thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time.

“This incident happened at the junction of Lancaster Road and Jacson Street in the City Centre just after 13:30 hours on the first Saturday in November. I’m appealing to anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
