Doors will open from 8am to 5pm for people to bring in their antiques
ITV crews will descend upon a Lancashire city this weekend as they film hours of footage for a popular daytime show.Dickinson’s Real Deal will give the residents of Preston the chance to have their antiques and heirlooms valued – and perhaps seal a cash deal for them. Hosting the crews and providing the venue for the antique deals to commence will be Riva Show Bar in the city centre.
The former bingo hall opposite Preston’s bus station was contacted by the ITV teams and after a look around, and virtual shaking of hands over email, Entertainment Manger David Billington secured the deal.
Riva opened up in Preston before Christmas in 2019 and after a rocky start, recently got back on their feet seeing crowds come through the door for weekly events. Now, hundreds more are expected to filter through as they queue up to have their antiques valued by the Real Deal team.
For David, securing the deal in Preston has been an exciting opportunity and one he hopes will pay off with an amazing day. “It’s an amazing opportunity with ITV, they’re filming three shows in one day so we’ll be mentioned three times on the telly,” he said.
“Its absolutely a dream come true- to have ITV come down and see what we’re all about. I watch the Real Deal all the time, I can’t wait to meet them all and look after them all.”
Meeting TV celebrities is a memorable moment in itself but for David, he’s going that extra mile to make sure the host of the show is happy in Preston. “David Dickinson wants to eat a meat pie. He also wants an air conditioned room because he likes to be nice and cool apparently before he goes on set, so we’re sorting all of that out.
“People are already stopping me in the street to ask me about it, it’s the main topic of conversation is Dickinson’s Real Deal at the moment.”
Members of the public are invited to the event to bring along their antique to either get money on the day, or take their items to auction. David says his inbox has been inundated with emails and messages about what people can expect and bring.
Doors will open to the public from 8am to 5pm on Saturday June 18 and the show is expected to air in 2023.
