Heritage and History in Practice Exhibition Launch

24 June @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Free

Join us for the Heritage and History in Practice Exhibition Launch, an engaging showcase of family history, photographs and personal archives developed through a collaborative research project at the University of Lancashire.

Over six workshops, members of the public worked alongside researchers to explore how everyday heritage materials can be analysed, interpreted and presented as public history. Participants brought their own photographs and documents, learning how to uncover historical meaning, place their materials within wider contexts, and transform them into accessible outputs.

The exhibition features a range of co-produced displays, including short articles, interpretive captions, visual presentations and curated image collections. Together, these outputs demonstrate how personal and community histories can reveal broader themes such as work, identity, migration and social change.

Visitors can expect a welcoming and informal event, with opportunities to explore the exhibition, speak with participants and researchers, and gain insight into how heritage research works in practice. Whether you are interested in family history, local heritage, or simply curious about the past, this event offers an accessible and inspiring introduction to public history.

Free to attend and open to all, the exhibition invites you to reflect on your own history and the stories that shape our shared past.
