Ekin-Su’s wardrobe malfunction as Dancing on Ice fans slam ‘unfair’ advantage

Ekin-Su Culculoglu survived the first Dancing on Ice skate-off as John Fashanu became the first celebrity to be eliminated from the new series.

The former UCLan student, 28, found herself in the dreaded skate-off against the former footballer, 60, who performed last weekend with the first batch of celebrities. After the couples went head to head, the judges Oti Mabuse, Ashley Banjo, Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill voted unanimously to save the Love Island winner, sending Fashanu packing.

Fashanu and his professional partner Alexandra Schauman performed once again, this time to Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit In The Sky, while Culculoglu and her partner Brendyn Hatfield skated to No Tears Left To Cry by Ariana Grande. However some viewers were left baffled as they spotted an “unfair” advantage on last night’s show.

Viewers following the programme on Twitter pointed out an issue as Ekin-Su had an additional week to practice the dance off routine. Jason said: “Flaw in the system is one pair have a week to rehearse the skate off, while one pair have 10 minutes”.

@DonDonBonBon1 wrote: “How come Ekin Su had an extra week to train for her skate off but John Fashanu didn’t? #Unfair #DancingOnIce.”

Iambri_97 commented: “The first dance off format on this is so poor because Ekin-Su has had a solid week to come to terms with it, to practice her routine without having a main show skate tonight, meanwhile John Fashanu has had about 4 minutes, and skated tonight. Ridiculous format”

@SparklingKesha commented: “If they just extend the opening show of #DancingOnIce and have everyone dance on the first show and then 2 lowest scores from that , it would be fairer, then they both have a week to practice their skate off performance.”

Julian posted: “So she has had a WHOLE WEEK to practice while he….well it spoke for itself”

@cooking_emily added: “Oh dear …. More pushing and being dragged around the ice. Had an extra week compared to John to put the effort in and it was just like a repeat of last week #DancingOnIce.”

Lauren commented: “SO unfair she’s had a full week to concentrate on that one skate John had to learn 2 skates in a week”

During last night’s show, Ekin-Su donned a classy burgundy dress with a plunging neckline in stark contrast to last week. But viewers did indeed notice her wardrobe malfunction, too, and it comes after her raunchy routine to Britney Spears’ Toxic resulted in 112 Ofcom complaints.

At one point in the middle of the dance, Ekin’s dress lifted up over her head, revealing her pink underwear beneath – believed to be a skintight lycra skating suit. Though the judges didn’t comment on it, the viewers at home didn’t miss it.

@enfieldgarry said: “Flash your underwear why don’t you Ekin Su. #DancingOnIce”
